Join VT Engage virtually this summer!

Our team is looking forward to offering a variety of virtual events this summer! We are excited to share more about our work and passion areas with the Virginia Tech community. Unless otherwise indicated, all events are open to students, employees, and community members. Registration for each event closes at noon the day before. All of these events will be held over Zoom. After registering, we will send you the meeting information

During this webinar on Wednesday, July 29 (10 - 11 am), participants will learn more about the voting trends of Virginia Tech students and young voters broadly. Participants will also learn about specific barriers to first time and young voters, as well as about the VT Engage civic action plan and how they can help to impact student voter turnout. Following the film, participants will discuss how to apply the film's principles through VT's experiential learning opportunities.

This interactive workshop on Wednesday, June 17 (1 - 2 pm) will utilize systems thinking activities to help attendees learn how to better understand complex social problems and determine their role in both creating and resolving them. Participants will be asked to think critically about their ability to affect change through the lens of Corey Seemiller's Student Leadership Competencies.

During session on Tuesday, June 23 (1 - 2 pm), participants will learn easy strategies for reducing food waste. Participants will be guided through a series of recipes designed to utilize common forms of food waste. Along the way, information will be provided about Campus Kitchen, food waste in the United States, and the environmental consequences of throwing food into the garbage.

This session on Wednesday, June 24 (2 - 3 pm), will present participants with tangible ideas to make communication, particularly in marketing, more accessible, how to avoid common accessibility mistakes, and more.  The session will cover topics such as using accessibility features on social media, describing different types of images, language to use when describing disability, and more.
