Hokies Vote Caucus
The Hokies Vote Caucus (HVC) is a non-partisan student-led program that creates year-round voter education and engagement initiatives on campus and in the community.
The HVC is the place for undergraduate students to make a difference by organizing in a non-partisan way to encourage a culture of active civic and voter participation on campus. The HVC is a great avenue for students who are interested in contributing to the democratic process but don’t know where to start.
Students who begin voting while they are in college are more likely to continue the lifelong pattern of voting after they graduate. Voting is just one way to be civically engaged, and many students will cast their first ballot while attending college. College students face a unique set of barriers to voting (CVP). At VT Engage, we work to equip students to navigate these new opportunities, and to seek out information on sociopolitical issues.

Democracy Fellows
Democracy Fellows at VT Engage are hired to conduct voter engagement across campus in coordination with the Hokies Vote Caucus. They give presentations to classes and organizations about basic student voting information. They also plan and conduct events that provide students with non-partisan voter information, and facilitate outreach surrounding voter deadlines. Check out the VT Engage Instagram to see the next time you can catch them on campus!
