Fundraising and Finance - financetbe@vt.edu

Robbie Eldridge and Evan James

Our responsibilities include planning percentage nights, grilled cheese nights, and other fundraising opportunities, contacting potential sponsors, and assisting sponsors up to and on the day of The Big Event. We are looking for creative thinkers who manage their time well, are outgoing, organized, and enjoy coming up with new ideas. The time commitment will be about 1 hour every week, in addition to attending all fundraising events. Our job is to make sure we raise enough money to help TBE run smoothly.

Louise Coates and Erynn Feltz

The IR committee is responsible for creating a fun, kind, and welcoming environment for all people involved with TBE. Our responsibilities include planning events, programs, and experiences that help bring our staff together. We are looking for members who have an interest in planning small-scale events and who can assist with forming a positive and welcoming vibe throughout TBE. Time commitment includes 1 hour a week year-round, with the expectation that you will attend all bonding events.

Matt Guariano, Franny Nolen, and Nate Zincone

The Programming Committee is responsible for scheduling the flow of events and layout of the Drillfield on the day of TBE. This includes coordinating with sponsors, performers, and town and university oUicials to create a safe and engaging experience for volunteers and staff. We design the setup, distribution, and return of tools, and are responsible for the takedown on the day of. Committee members will be responsible for answering questions from staff and volunteers alike concerning scheduling and organization. The committee is also responsible for helping plan our Battle of the Bands event and will serve as points of contact for the bands. Time commitment includes 2 hours a week in the spring semester, with an increasing time commitment in the two weeks before TBE.

Cooper Wrisberg, Sara Callanan, and Clay Smart

The projects committee members are the ones responsible for the behind-the-scenes administrative tasks to do with all the volunteer work that is done on the day of TBE! These tasks include encouraging homeowners to sign up for projects, inputting data from homeowners during project checks, leading a group of staff members for project checks to ensure the safety of volunteers, staffing the check-in tent, and serving as a point of contact for the homeowners and staff members. The time commitment is 1 hour in the fall semester and 3-4 hours in the spring semester.

Public Relations - commstbe@vt.edu

Ava Rattazzi and Chelsea Rodenbaugh

The PR committee will be responsible for TBE's social media presence. This will include the creation of all social media posts and related communication. We are looking for creative and enthusiastic people who are interested in graphic design and who have an interest in upholding a positive image of TBE! Time commitment includes 1 hour a week in the fall semester, and 1-3 hours a week in the spring, with an increase in time in the two weeks before TBE.

Student Outreach - volunteertbe@vt.edu

Kevin Bagby, Madelyn Connelie, and Jake Silverman

Student Outreach focuses primarily on recruiting the student body to volunteer for The Big Event. As a student outreach committee member, you will present to classes, school organizations, and run marketing booths to gather volunteers to support our homeowner projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop your marketing and public speaking skills. You will thrive on this committee by demonstrating your enthusiasm and passion for The Big Event! Time commitment includes 1 hour a week during the fall, and 1-3 hours a week during the spring.

Technology and Analytics

Davan Desmond

Technology and Analytics is responsible for using data and technology to support TBE's planning and decision-making. This includes analyzing data from previous and current Big Events, creating graphs and visualizations to identify trends in volunteer participation and engagement, and collaborating with other committees to support their data and technology needs. The role also helps track organizational goals and explore ways technology can improve TBE's processes, outreach, and overall impact. Time commitment includes about 1-2 hours a week.
